Note from the Head
The Week that Was………
Congratulations to all our children who took part in the Huntingdon Fun Run last Sunday – Brampton Village Primary School teams won both the 1km and the 3km trophies! A huge thank you to Paula Elliott, for organising our participation in this event, and to the Year 2 teachers – Miss McAuley, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Dris – who have been preparing children for the race at Friday Running Club and ran alongside some of the children from their classes. Well done!
Children in Years 1 and 2 have enjoyed a wonderful ‘seaside’ day this week – they loved finding out about beach holidays ‘in the olden days’ and spending their old pennies at the attractions. Thank you to the KS1 teachers for organising these days. KS1 also gave a lovely concert to parents on Wednesday morning, singing (and dancing!) with real joy and flair. Thank you to Mrs Bryant for preparing them for this. Class 3B also sang and danced beautifully for their parents during their class assembly this morning. Well done! It was great to see parents and grandparents at our annual Family Picnic, despite the peevish weather. Thank you for coming!
Sports Day – KS1 Sports Day will be held on 30th June at 1.30 p.m. and KS2 Sports Day will be held on 6th July at 1.30 p.m.
Creativity Day – Friday 3rd July – the children have requested an ‘animal day’ for their final creativity day this year and they have specifically said that they would like ‘real live animals’! This has proved something of a challenge! However, Animal Experience has been booked and will bring a chinchilla, some hedgehogs and reptiles. The Environment Agency is bringing crayfish, mitten crabs and sticklebacks. Someone from the Fire & Rescue Service is going to talk about how they rescue large animals, and custodians from the Museum of Zoology will be showing animal skeletons and teaching children about evolution and conservation.
Family Learning & Open Afternoon – Tuesday 14th July – Cooking, drumming, jewellery making, pottery and sports are some of the activities on offer on our open afternoon this year. Please put the date in your diaries and look out for the sign up sheets at the end of June.
