Note from the Head
Despite experiencing every conceivable weather (except snow) this week at Mepal, the Year 4 children had a great time. They have come back full of stories about their adventures – both during the outdoor activities and in the dormitories – and seem to be bursting with confidence! Mrs Cole’s class were also full of confidence when they presented their learning to parents this morning at their class assembly. Well done
Coming up…
Jubilee Day 31st May – parents are welcome to join us for the afternoon. Children are invited to come in fancy dress - red, white and blue – and will have the opportunity to play some ‘old fashioned’ games and have a picnic tea. Parents are invited from 1.20pm. We need: 6 picnic rugs per class, three volunteers to hand out the picnic in the afternoon, one person to help make sandwiches and one person to help hang bunting / decorations. Please help if you can as we think it’ll be a question of ‘the more, the merrier’! The sign up sheets are up outside every class – PLEASE SIGN UP TO HELP IF YOU CAN! We’ve had a few more offers of help for our Diamond Jubilee picnic, but we’re desperately short of picnic rugs; if you would be willing to lend a picnic rug for the afternoon, please tell your child’s class teacher.
Year 5/6 wish to invite relations or friends of the children of BVPS, who attended Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation day celebrations in 1953, (Great grandparents or Great Aunts & Uncles?) to come along on Week beginning 28th May and share their memories of the occasion with the children of Years 5&6. If you know of someone who would be willing to do so please could you contact Mrs Landeryou either via the office email or messages via your child. Many thanks!
House Matches - KS2 children will be taking part in inter-house sports matches next Friday morning, 25th May. We are asking children to bring a coloured t-shirt (house colours) into which they may change for the sports. House colours are as follows: Victory – blue; Discovery – green; Mayflower – red and Revenge – yellow.
Whole School Photograph – we thought it would be nice to have a photograph of the whole school in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. The photograph will be taken on 30th May and copies will be available for parents to buy if they would like to do so.
Training Day – Friday 1st June.
