Note from the Head
Hurrah for (mostly) sunny weather! We had a very active and enjoyable KS1 Sports Day on Monday afternoon – it was lovely to see Reception and KS1 children participating in the games with such enthusiasm and great to see Year 6 Sports’ Leaders leading the ‘closing ceremony’ dancing – very joyful! Thank you to Mrs Lear for organising this sporting event. On Tuesday evening, parents and friends attended the Year 6 Presentation and Leavers’ Assembly; the children took us on a journey back in time, remembering the highlights of each year they have spent at Brampton. We were all very proud of them since they acted, sang and performed brilliantly and wrote all their own material. Thank you to Mrs Landeryou and Mrs Jackson for all their hard work in ‘pulling the show together’! Finally, a slightly damp family picnic. It was lovely to see everyone sharing picnics with their children and friends. Many parents also joined their children in a range of workshop activities during our open afternoon today. Thank you to everyone who led workshops from Samba and Zumba to Cooking, Gardening and IT.
The Big Move! – Many of you will have seen evidence of packing boxes piled in corridors, classrooms or the KS1 hall during our open afternoon. We have to move all the furniture, books and equipment out of six classrooms, two Music rooms, a library and two long corridors by close of play on Wednesday! If anyone could offer an hour or two to help pack on Monday or Tuesday we would be very grateful! Please let the school office know.
School Discos – the BVSA are running their final fundraising event of the year on Tuesday 22nd July. There will be two discos – Reception & KS1 at 5.30 p.m. and KS2 at 6.45 p.m. The entry fee is £2 (to include a drink and a snack) and additional snacks, drinks and raffle tickets will be on sale. Please see the poster outside the school office or please click here for further details.
Universal Infant Free School Meals – from September all children in Reception classes, Year 1 and Year 2 will be entitled to a free school meal. Responses from parents collected earlier in the year suggest that the vast majority of children will be taking up this offer. We will assume that your child will be having a school meal unless you have informed us that they will not. We are currently working out the details of a system which will allow children in Reception and KS1 to order what they would like to eat each day. The new menu from CCS was recently sent out, and a link will soon be available on the school website. You may wish to look at this menu with your child and discuss meal options, to speed the decision process when they are back at school!
School Meals for KS2 – we will initially continue to operate a system of default meal patterns as we get to grips with the anticipated increase in the amount of meals the kitchen will be serving. Once we have done that we are planning to move away from default meal patterns and allow more flexibility for our pupils in years 3,4,5 and 6.
School Discos - Reception & KS1: 5.30 – 6.30 p.m. and KS2: 6.45 – 8.00 p.m.
